Launch of the Flying Flea Brand for Electric Motorcycles
Royal Enfield has officially entered the electric vehicle market with the launch of its first-ever electric motorcycle, named the Flying Flea C6. This marks the beginning of a new era for the brand, with all future electric motorcycles set to be released under the dedicated “Flying Flea” brand. The name is a tribute to the original Royal Enfield Flying Flea from the 1940s, a lightweight motorcycle that was famously used during WWII. These bikes were parachuted into war zones to provide easy, agile mobility across diverse terrains. The new Flying Flea electric models aim to carry forward that legacy of lightness and agility.
Retro-Futuristic Design with a Modern Twist
The Flying Flea C6 is designed with a retro-futuristic aesthetic. It features a round LED headlight and girder forks at the front, a classic element that hasn’t been seen in modern two-wheelers for some time. Unlike Royal Enfield’s traditional petrol-powered motorcycles, the Flying Flea C6 is compact in design, with slim 17-inch tires and a forged aluminum frame, signaling its urban-focused nature.
Designed for Urban Commuting
This electric motorcycle seems intended to be a modern classic, ideal for city commuting. It offers a low seat height and a comfortable rider triangle, making it suitable for daily use. The bike will also be available in a two-seater version and comes equipped with advanced features like a round TFT display, cornering ABS, and traction control.
Expected Range and Performance
Though detailed specifications are yet to be revealed, it is expected that the Flying Flea C6 will have a fixed battery with a range between 100 to 150 kilometers. It promises a decent balance of power and torque, making it a strong competitor in the growing electric motorcycle market.
Competition in the Indian Electric Motorcycle Market
Currently, several electric motorcycles are available in India, including the Revolt RV 400, Matter Aera 5000, Oben Rorr, Ola Roadster, Raptee T30, and Tork Kratos. It will be interesting to see how Royal Enfield positions the Flying Flea C6 in terms of pricing and performance compared to these competitors.
